Visited the Lava Lands Visitor Center today. Drove to the top of Lava Butte and walked the trail around rim of the old cinder cone. Also checked out the interpretive center nearby and walked a trail in the old breach side of the cone. Very interesting.

Yes, we’re on vacation but Pat had a work-related meeting in Bend at Central Oregon Community College (COCC). I dropped her off in the morning then went caching/hiking in the nearby Shevlin Regional Park until her meeting got out at 3pm.
We shopped in Bend’s Old Mill district including the REI store where I drooled over the new Garmin Oregon GPS!!
Went to dinner at McMenamins - Old St. Francis School where Jenny works and was recently promoted to Asst. Manager! We had a great dinner!
Today we left for La Pine State Park in central Oregon. Really hot weather once we hit the Willamette Valley - 100 degrees in Oakridge when we stopped for gas!
Arrived and setup camp late afternoon. Just our luck - our site was single worse site in the whole campground for having shade! Not good!
