Warm Weekend at Sutton
WOW! Absolutely fantastic weather along the coast this weekend! Warm east winds were blowing.
We discovered a nice campground just north of Florence - USFS Sutton Campground. A great place for riding a bike or hiking trails.
Friday: I headed out with the trailer while Pat finished up her work day. She came up later in her car. I intended to find a site in Honeyman State Park but there were no electrical sites left so I went up north of Florence to Washburne State Park - same story! Yikes, it seems everyone else had the same idea! Decided to go back toward Florence and check out Sutton Campground and found a few sites open so I grabbed one quick! Met Pat in Florence later and had fish-n-chips and chowder at Mo’s.
Saturday: After a relaxing breakfast and coffee we headed out on our separate adventures. I had a long hike in the Cummins Creek/Cape Perpetua area planned to hunt three geocaches and one terracache. Pat wanted to ride the bike around camp awhile then go into Florence. We got back together in the late afternoon at camp where we had an early dinner. Then after dinner Pat wanted to go on a walk - a WALK! After hiking through pristine old growth forest from sea level to over 1600 feet elevation and back and covering over 9.5 miles, she wants to take a WALK! Just kidding sweetheart, of course I’d love to take a walk with you! Later we enjoyed a nice crackling fire.
Sunday: Woke up to very warm east winds. After breakfast we explored some of the many trails in the area and also checked out all the different loops in the campground taking notes about the parts we liked. Packed up the trailer after lunch and headed for home. We really liked this campground - in fact, we plan to come up again next weekend!
