Solo in Brookings
Pat and I had campsites reserved at Harris Beach SP for the Labor Day Weekend since early in the year. Since Pat had to change her plans and accompany our grandson back to NYC I would be camping solo. (Enter sad emoticon here)
I got the trailer packed and hooked up by 9am and headed down 101. I made a quick stop in Bandon to get a cup of coffee, a breakfast sandwich…...er, and a geocache at the Brewed Awakenings Coffee House. With the appetite satisfied I moved on down the road. Somewhere behind me is Bad Duck and family and he text’d me saying they would be stopping in Gold Beach for lunch at DQ. So I just poked along and waited in Gold Beach to join them. My lunch was simply a blizzard! Oh yeah! Back on the road I stopped at the Arch Rock Viewpoint to check out a cache near the highway and let him get by me - problem was, the cache was down at beach level and too far to hike this day. Finally got to the campground and set up the trailer by mid-afternoon.
Bad Duck and I geocached in the immediate vicinity for a couple of hours before dinner time. We walked to the nearby Harris Butte cache then hopped in the Kia and found four others nearby.
Back at camp I fixed my dinner and did some geocache planning for tomorrow. Felt weird without my bride….... (another sad emoticon here)!
Would have made for a nice beach walk with Pat!
