Pickin’ Up Stragglers
Today was the day to hunt a smattering of caches from Hall Lake to Loon Lake to Florence.
Started the day at Hall Lake to pick up Soccer which was found quickly partly due to the helpful log entries of others. At this point I decided to continue on out to the dunes to hunt Dyl Pickle even though it meant venturing into the Land of Quads. It was still early morning so I figured fewer quads would be out there. I was right - found the cache easily enough and returned to my vehicle two hours later.
From here I headed to Loon Lake to look for Loon Lake Falls. The campground was nearly deserted. Nice little hike to the falls where I happened upon a family climbing to the top. Once they were out of sight I poked around and found the cache. Hope it stays put during high water events! Now on up towards Florence!
Short hike into the dunes again to get Newts Loot.
The final destination for the day was an attempt at FTF on Baseball - a cache that required (highly suggested anyway) a short walk in a sandy bottomed creek. I had to walk by a few campsites to find the creek. Found it quickly. The coolness of walking up that creek was refreshing after all the dune hiking earlier in the day.
It was a good day.
