Northwest Trails Project

I recently learned of THIS rather ambitious project mapping biking/hiking trails in the Pacific Northwest.  The map is uploadable to Garmin GPSr’s in a format that allows me to see the trail track right over the top of the existing Topo map!  Very helpful when hiking in unfamiliar territory!

Last month I submitted my GPSr track for the Bluebill Lake and Drift Creek Falls trails.

Today I walked the entire John Topits Park trail system (almost 4 miles) located inside Coos Bay city limits at Empire Lakes.  I cleaned up the track a little then submitted it.  The guy organizing this project acquired some nice gifts from the Garmin company for those of us out walking trails and sending in track data.  One of the gifts is a new Garmin Colorado 300! Yeah, baby!  That would be sweet to win!  Everyone who submits acceptable track data during the month of June get a chance to win.
