knightcb’s just a cachin’ machine!
Went on an all-day caching excursion to Gold Beach and back with one of my caching buddies, knightcb (aka Chuck). I was needing to get three new ones in Port Orford and 4-5 in Gold Beach. Left Coos Bay about 7am and hit a couple on Bandon Beach Loop that Chuck hadn’t got yet. Stopped for the two near Lake Bradley, “Sunset with a view” above Langlois and the one at the game park while skipping New River Trails, Blacklock Trail and Cape Blanco caches. While in Port Orford we found the three new ones I needed plus all the rest for Chuck thus plucking the town clean!
CHUCK - Looking for one of the caches in Port Orford Heads State Park
Now we could have called this a successful morning cache run and headed home - NOT!
I had joked with Chuck earlier in the morning about getting him 50 caches today - well......................
We headed south intending to pick up all we could between Port Orford and Gold Beach without heavy duty hiking. So familyexplorer’s “Coastal Series” was the perfect starting point. By lunchtime Chuck had racked up 24 so we broke for a bite to eat at a Gold Beach cafe. Refreshed and refueled, we found a few in Gold Beach itself plus three up the river before heading back north. Finishing off the day with the rest of the “Coastal” series and some Goober caches giving Chuck at total of 47 finds for the day!
A great day overall - awesome weather, good food and fellowship!
