Drizzly Weekend in Florence

Two weeks ago Patricia and I were in the hot, dry sage brush of eastern Oregon near Hermiston - this weekend we sit in the dripping coastal fog at Sutton Campground north of Florence! What a contrast! It didn’t make for good photo ops but the getaway was welcome nontheless.

Found seven geocaches today including one that has been getting a reputation as a very difficult one - Darius Norton Finkelstein (D.N.F.) McGee.  With Patricia waiting in the car I wanted to find it quickly, if that were possible. However, after nearly 30 minutes of looking I finally made a lifeline phone call to a previous finder for a clue. Armed with new intel I found it about 2 minutes after getting off the phone. Yeah! It’s nice to get toughie’s like this one off the list.

We’ll be back to this campground again in the fall and hope for nicer weather. Besides, I didn’t find all the caches in the area - we HAVE to come back!
