Family Caching at Dufur

Dufur? Where’s Dufur, you say? Fifteen miles south of The Dalles in Wasco County. Wheat farming country. Home of the annual Dufur Threshing Bee and my parents. Family was gathered here this weekend to paint the folks’ house then go camping together up at Timothy Lake on the Mt. Hood National Forest.

Dad says we can go caching when the job is done! Woohoo!

Finished the paint job in the morning and then our little troop headed for the woods for site-seeing and geocaching.

We started with a short hike to Eightmile Point where, on a clear day, four major Cascade peaks (Hood, St. Helens, Rainer and Adams) can be seen…..thus the name of the geocache Dad placed there….Four Peak Peek. We found one other cache on the return trip - Peaceful Meadow. Fun afternoon of trekking around the forest - one of our families favorite things to do.

Now on to Timothy Lake for four days….....
