Afternoon Caching South of Gold Beach

After receiving an award for 30 years of service to the Oregon Dept. of Forestry at a Gold Beach meeting, I decided to take the afternoon off and do some geocaching south of town.

No trail hikes today - a rain system starting to move in so the plan was for easily accessed caches along Highway 101 and a couple of arterial roads.

One of my goals was to complete Osprey 101’s Carpenterville Road series (thirteen caches). I didn’t get them all but it always makes for a good reason to return - this road parallels 101 and provides some nice views of the shoreline.

The last few caches were found as the wind and rain were picking up and pelting my face. Time to go home!

It’s always nice getting down to one of my very favorite portions of the Oregon coast.
