A Caching Day Out With ‘Da Boys
A ‘Dawn to Dusk’ caching excursion to Florence with Bad Duck and Family Explorer (okay, Darren and Rod).
One of the things about caching with a group in an area where each has cached before is that you get to just step back sometimes and watch the others look for a cache you’ve already found - trying not to give it away. Then a few minutes later you could be the one looking and someone else is standing around….often with a chuckle. Other times everyone is looking. Makes for a fun day. Today was like that.
Rod picked up a cache in Coos Bay before he and Darren swung by the house to pick me up.
Next stop was a potential FTF in Winchester Bay - Dylan’s Day!. We discovered, however, that someone beat us to it. With tails tucked between our legs we continued on to Florence stopping briefly to check out the first couple of stages of Kenny Art’s new 5/5 puzzle cache - Sandu Sudoku. We didn’t hang around there long since we were having trouble location the second set of coords and it was starting to rain.
One final stop before getting into Florence had us looking for a very tricky new cache (John Doe) at Woahink Lake. It was a very well camo’d cache and we were really having trouble spotting it. Making things worse were the many groups of scuba classes going on in the immediate vicinity. Finally found it but not before a lifeline call to a local Florence cacher - Sure-Loc. Darren and Rod picked up a few others in the area that I found already.
For the next couple of hours we hunted caches in Florence taking the “Find Nearest Cache” approach after each find.
Lunch at Taco Bell then out again for more geocaching fun.
Home after dark! Long day but good fun with caching buddy’s!
