We shall see….. Steven (aka PYNEKONE), new cacher in the area, had a 2010 bucket list that included kayaking. Today we do indeed find out if pynekone’s float!
Today’s destination is Eel Lake, one of the nicest flatwater access points for kayaking in the area AND loaded with geocaches! Besides myself, long time cachers and fellow kayaking enthusiasts Melia and Darren join Steven on this fun day…....
After kayaking, we took a short walk along the lake to a new Mackie cache, Swearing at Spruce. The picture says it all!
Today was more about placing caches than finding them - Bad Duck and I teamed up to place a couple caches on Carter Lake south of Florence. These caches can be found without watercraft but won’t be nearly as fun! The lake was a little smaller than we had hoped but any chance to get out on the water in the yaks is a great time.
Enjoy this video of the excursion…..
We found a new Ace & Flybaby cache at the Lakeside airport on the way home then attended a geo-halloween event later…...good day.
BLIP? What the heck is BLIP, you say? It is an online community of photographers with an emphasis on daily posting as a way to hone their photography skills. Pat joined last Christmas. Many times after work and on weekends, she’ll want to come out to the very picturesque portion of coastline between Charleston and Cape Arago. I can almost always sneak in a geocache hunt on these blip drives. It’s a great way Pat and I get to combine things we each like to do. Geocaching and photography go extremely well together!
Today’s outing was at Shore Acres where Pat was hoping to get some early storm season pics of ocean swells pounding the rough cliffs. As we were leaving the park I was able to stop for a quick geocache hunt at the park entrance - one of several recent caches placed by a new cacher going by the name PYNEKONE.
Here are a couple of short video clips from the last two days out here…...
