No Geocaching - Hiking North Spit Trails
As I’ve mentioned before I try to hike and record the GPS track of trails in the area for the Northwest Trails project.
Today I walked about 5 miles of dune trails on the North Spit area. This was my second trip out because I couldn’t get all the trails covered the first time…..and I still need another day to wrap it up. This is quite a maze of trails. I have some ideas for planting some new caches out here once I get the trail locations recorded and sent off to the project manager.

Merry Christmas!
Pat and I may have a new Christmas morning routine. She’ll undoubtedly come up with a better name but I just call it Christmas Morning Drive - going somewhere before breakfast and presents for some picture taking…and maybe a geocache too!
For our initial drive we went out to Cape Arago. The surf wasn’t as wild as we’d hoped but she got her fill of shots then I stopped for a rejuvenated BERLINERS CLIFF SCULPTURES cache as we left Shore Acres.
Later in the day I went out to Sunset Golf Course to see if I could attempt Ottontots Dr. Bern #1 cache. Luckily the course was open and I was able to walk right out to the cache without attracting attention.

Some lucky duffers had the course to themselves.

New Caching Style - Mix in Pix
As if I needed another excuse to go out geocaching, along comes a new twist to my normal lame ploys - and it has the approval of the lovely and talented Mrs. Popop! In fact, she is at the heart of this new strategem.
It began today with the aforementioned Mrs. Popop’s discovery of Blipfoto.com - an online daily photo journal.
Just as ‘hunting tupperware in the woods’ has become my addiction so has snapping and posting a daily photo shot become hers! This now presents regular opportunities to take a drive in order to satisfy our….desires!
This day’s quick excursion was out North Bay Drive. Well, I already had the caches in that area so I turn to her and asked “Wanna go check out an old pioneer cemetery?” Y’see that wouldn’t have worked before - but NOW it’s like “Cool, let’s go!” I LOVE this woman!
So to wrap up our little outing we drove out to Bad Duck’s newest cache “Templeton Pioneers”. Found the cache just fine but we missed being FTF by a few hours - Mr. Copper was out here this morning! Pat snapped a few pics then we headed home.
