Valley of the Rogue

This was the first day of our May vacation.  I dropped Pat off at Applegate Christian Fellowship for her Ladies Retreat then I beelined it over to Grants Pass where I hunted geocaches with two very specific goals in mind.  I drove out of Grants Pass to an area known as Limpy Creek just inside the Siskiyou National Forest to find the required two caches for blazerfan’s National Forests challenge.  Getting a cache in this area also helped me check off one more DeLorme section.  Success on both goals!  Mosquito’s were pesky however this was a very nice little botanical trail system.  Had Abby’s pizza in Grants Pass then headed for the trailer and crashed.

Terracache #3 - Oregon Dunes

This terracache wasn’t nearly as good as Cummins Basin being only a virtual and a very short hike into the dunes but it was within 500 feet of a new geocache so why not?  It was a little rainy but not bad enough to get soaked.

Trekking the Dunes with Friends

A stormy, wet weekend was being predicted so buddies and fellow geocachers Gblack (Greg) and knightcb (Chuck) joined me for an afternoon hiking in the Dunes NRA.  Our primary aim was to be first finders for a brand new cache.  Chuck was only 6 caches away from #200 so we also wanted to hunt nearby caches to help him get that milestone today.  We accomplished one of those goals.  Some other geocachers beat us to the new cache by no more than 20 minutes!  They played a little joke on us - replaced the cache with a baseball cap then hid in the brush nearby to watch our reaction!  They finally came out of the brush with the real cache and we all had a good laugh!

It was a gorgeous afternoon for such a hike and being in the company of friends made it even better.
