Visiting Oregon’s High Desert

I was in Bend most of this week and managed to get in some caching (what a shocker!).  Very different from the coast, that’s for sure.  Low, rolling terrain sometimes covered in stately Ponderosa Pine sometimes in Western Juniper and sagebrush sometimes nothing but a jumble of lava rock.  Quite a variety of recreational opportunities.

Picked up 50 caches for the week!  Several were along the Deschutes River Trail, a great hiking experience.  Many were on the way up the McKenzie River (that is gorgeous scenery).

DeLorme Sections 55 & 56

This week I was able to make great progress on the Oregon DeLorme Challenge finding caches in six more sections!  It’s been several months since completing any new sections so this was long overdue.

I got the last two of the six today as I made my way to Salem.  Rainy day but caches await so I go forth!

Milestone 1500 in Bend

There are some great hiking and biking trails all over the Bend area.  Most of my caching here was on these.  It was fun to go over 1500 in this beautiful area.

When I called home I said, “Hon, let’s move here!”  Wish the real estate wasn’t so expensive over here!
