New cachers in the Area
Good to see some new cachers in the Bay Area. Welcome to the addiction Steve ‘n’ Nancy!! They have put out several caches lately and I’ve had fun running out to get them. I fell into the “hunting with blinders on” mode again on Kentuck E.Bay. I hate it when I approach the cache location thinking I know exactly where it’s going to be only find it’s not there and then forgetting to expand the ole’ thought processes. It took two emails to the owners before I finally “got it”.
Another new cacher, knightcb, popped up on the local radar recently as well. I thought this name looked familiar - turns out to be one of the guys at my church (Calvary on the Bay). He and I plan to do some caching together soon.

North Coast of Oregon
I’ve been in Seaside, OR most of the week and have managed to squeeze in some fun geocaching. Apparently, this town is just hoppin’ during the summer season but dead in the winter. Well, I wouldn’t exactly call it dead right now but I certainly didn’t have any muggle issues. The most enjoyable cache hunts were in Ecola State Park along the Clatsop Loop Trail. Dense spruce forest and cliff-edge views - great stuff. Another good spot was out at Fort Stevens State Park on the very northern tip of the Oregon coastline. Great weather all week - no rain!
I was able to pick up two more sections for the Oregon DeLorme Challenge. In addition, I can add Clatsop county to my list of Oregon counties where I’ve found caches. This, of course, means one more county towards the CCiO Challenge as well.

Terracache #2 near Seaside
Picked up my second terracache on a trip to Seaside - REALLY, REALLY BIG is a virtual cache at the site of a HUGE Spruce tree. Even though I’m a forester by profession, seeing a tree this big is still awe inspiring - God’s creativity is amazing!
