A Statewide Goal

A recently published “challenge” cache (Counting Counties in Oregon) has given me a fun goal for 2006.  Find a regular cache (no micro’s or virtuals) in each of the 36 counties in Oregon during the 2006 calendar year.  Cache difficulty ratings play a role.

Kent, WA

Visited this DP while the wife shopped at IKEA

GD51-AGUX

Up visiting family in Seattle. Dropped wife off at IKEA to shop while I did
some geocaching and this dashpoint.  From IKEA (S. 180th St in Kent, WA) I
crossed Hwy 167 to S. 43rd which turns into Carr Road within a couple of
blocks.  Turned south at junction of Carr Rd and State Hwy 515, then turned
west onto SE 208th St. and finally north onto SE 206th Place ( one block in
length then splits left and right into two opposing cul-de-sac’s.  The
dashpoint sits smack dab in the middle of the street half-way to the right-hand
cul-de-sac.  I will upload a picture tonight of the view from the dashpoint
eastward toward the end of the cul-de-sac.  Not a very exciting DP adventure
but it sure beat shopping at IKEA!

Interesting side note - while traveling south on I-5 out of Seattle I saw a
sign for “Dashpoint State Park”!  Checked the Puget Sound area maps and saw an
actual point of land named DashPoint way down in the southern part between
Poverty Bay and Commencement Bay.  Wouldn’t it be cool to have a gpsgames
dashpoint land right there?  AGUX is about 12.6 miles NE.

My First EVENT

Meeting other local (and not so local) geocachers was great and pizza too!  Finally got to meet people face to face that you read in logs.
