Day Trip to Yachats
Sunny, warm weather was calling us out to play! We obliged with a drive up the coast. Pat looking for photo ops and me looking for…well, you know what I was looking for!
Stopped at Heceta Head Lighthouse so Pat could get some additional angles on this popular attraction. Also checked out the Devil’s Churn but the surf was pretty tame today so we didn’t stay long.
Our turnaround point was Yachats. A really nice little town. Pat got some seagulls to pose for her while I hunted a few caches nearby.
Hunger dictated a stop in Florence where we had a nice dinner at a favorite - the Bay Street Grille. As we prepared to leave, I checked the iphone geocaching app to see if there were any brand new caches…..Yes indeed there was! Pat was very gracious about my feverish plea to “go have a quick look”! Hoped for a first to find (FTF) but I was not able to locate the little bugger! Durn!
Very enjoyable day with my lovely bride!

Visiting Portland
Pat had a work-related meeting at PCC campus Friday so we decided to take the trailer up a day early then spend the whole weekend visiting Nicole+Sinclair and Kim+Andrew. Found a nice place to eat - John Barleycorns (McMenamins).
Friday, after dropping Pat off at PCC, I spent the day geocaching including a couple in Washington Park where I met up with Kim. She wanted the little girl she babysits to see what geocaching was all about. I picked a cache that involved getting simple information from a child’s play area in order to find the cache. I think she liked it. I picked up Pat from her meeting then we ate at our standby Hawthorne Fish House - gluten-free fish & chips, chowder!
Saturday Pat spent most of the day with Colie while I geocached around the Portland Meadows/Marine Drive area. We all met over at the Brookins’ for homemade chili and cornbread. It was a fun evening of food and laughter!
Fun weekend with the kiddo’s even if it was a bit rainy.
